Jody Bruce
I am a self-taught Canadian contemporary landscape artist living and working in the Okanagan Valley of British Columbia. For over 18 years, I have painted full time, dedicating my practice to exploring the raw, unspoiled beauty of nature. I intentionally leave out all man-made elements from my work, focusing instead on land, trees, water, sky, sun, and moon — the essential forces that ground and connect us.
My compositions are carefully measured and thoughtfully constructed. I often predetermine my colour palettes and rely on controlled, rhythmic brushwork to create balance between structure and emotion. Repetition of natural shapes is central to my process; it builds movement, harmony, and a sense of energy across the canvas.
Through my work, I aim to capture not just what the landscape looks like, but what it feels like — its stillness, and its quiet power. Each painting is an original and is an expression of my deep connection to the beauty of Canada.
-Thank you for following my art journey,
Sincerely,
Jody Bruce
